Independence From Health Problems

When I first started my journey as a Chiropractor I was learning so much about the human body; I was learning so much about health and what it is and where it comes from.  I was fascinated by it and I wanted to share it with everyone.  So, I started trying to help my Grandmother who, at the time, was a smoker and someone who took pain killer meds every day.  My grandmother was one of the most unhealthy people I knew.  It was really sad to see what she was doing to herself.  Fifteen years later my grandmother is in worse health than she has ever been.  She is battling Emphysema, she is hooked up to a breathing machine 24 hours a day.  She has broken both hips and shoulders, she barely weighs 100lbs and is really struggling -she is only 78 years old.

On a more positive note, my mother who was struggling with her health for many years has recently made a huge improvement in her health status.  In January of this year she changed her diet to be gluten and dairy free.  She was diagnosed as being pre-diabetic and it scared her.  So, she took her health into her own hands and lost 50lbs and is feeling so much better.   She use to have chronic knee pain that kept her from going to work many days and her energy levels were very low.  Now she rarely misses any work, her energy is much better and her knee’s bother her way less.  She is on the path of taking control of her health.
For me, I injured my back in March this year working out and I was not able to work out for two months. I was quite concerned for my career.  I experienced pain that I had never felt before.  My self diagnosis was a bulging disc.  As my back started feeling better I started to exercise again but not at the same intensity that I once did.  There was still this presence in my lower back that was concerning.  So, July 1, 2013 my wife and I went gluten and dairy free.  Understand that my dairy intake consisted of a cheese maybe 2x/week so not having dairy was easy.  Gluten was something I was being exposed to in restaurants primarily but since July 1st, we have changed and let me just say, I feel AMAZING!  I am back to working out to 6-7x/week with great intensity.  My low back pain that was concerning me is almost never there. The inflammation that was a side effect of my food choices has been eliminated and that has made all the difference.
If I were to follow the traditional medical approach like my grandmother has done, I would end up like her eventually.  That is not acceptable for me.  I want more for my life when I am in my 70’s and 80’s.  At Divine Spine Chiropractic Studio, we are committed to helping you have a similar experience where you take control of your life as well.
