If you’re a parent or a soon to be parent you know how difficult it can be to make choices for your children. Sometimes people come to me with questions about vaccines. Are they safe? Are they effective? Should I be waiting till my child is older to vaccinate? What are in vaccines? These are all very good questions and need to be answered. Unfortunately, not all of them can be answered without questioning where the source of information is coming from.
I remember when I was in Chiropractic school, I was curious about these questions because I wanted to inform myself as a health care provider and as a soon to be parent. I must say, it was not easy to make decisions about vaccines. Let me say that as a health care provider it is not in my legal right to say you should vaccinate or not. Prescribing a drug or vaccine is not in my scope of practice. However, I can provide you information so you can make an informed decision.
The following information in my video blog is very interesting. There is an ongoing survey in the Journal of Natural Food and Health, which was first published in 2011. What they are looking at is whether vaccinated children have more or less diseases and disorders than children who have not been vaccinated.
The sole purpose of this information is for you to consider what is right for you and only you and your family. We are here to inform and support the best we can. With that said, I am open to discussing this topic further with you if you wish. We have other places where you can get more information. For example, the National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC) is great resource, their web address is www.nvic.com. Another place to get more information on this topic is The International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, there web address is www.icpa4kids.org. You will see the second web address has a Chiropractic focus on it and the first website gives you both sides of information.
Unfortunately, there is a lot of gray area on this topic and we suggest you get as much information from different providers that you can so you make the decision that is right for you and your family.
